Recently I was invited by Willie Jackson to help out with creating shelter packages to be sent for the Haiti relief effort. The earthquake that hit Haiti really hit me also, since I am from the Caribbean myself and I know living up there can be rough.
The volunteer opportunity was organized by the Habitat for Humanity and the main goal was to create shelter packages to provide temporary shelter and to help repair existing structures.
When I was finished with my shift, I was beat. My arms were tired from folding tarps and inserting them into buckets but it was well worth it.
I had a great time and I recommend that you check out Desiree Adaway’s blog. Desiree is a non-profit professional who has years of experience in designing and managing innovative programs domestically and internationally that achieve organizational goals of raising funds, raising awareness, and increasing volunteers for organizations.
Here are a couple more from the day.

Gorgeous pictures Robert!
Desiree is my best friend (has been for 25 years!) and I LOVE the pic you took of her.
Big hugs and many blessings to you for helping out with this effort.
