Portrait of a Gentleman: Stanley St-Fleur

by Robert Bromfield on January 13, 2011

Stanley and I were introduced to each other through a mutual friend. Stanley needed updated portraits and headshots.

At RBromfield Photography, we make it a priority to better understand and to get to know our clients following our initial consultation and even leading up to our shoots. Through our consultation I recognized that Stanley definitely had a sense of style and knew what he wanted. Stanley and I went over a few of his favorite portraits that he had enjoyed; one portrait that stuck out to both of us was a portrait of Alfred P Sloan of General Motors. We were going to add a twist to the portrait for our take; to add some mystery, we positioned the flash to illuminate half of Stanley’s face and to have the shadows fall on the other half. This created a striking portrait that I knew Stanley would be extremely pleased with.

I presented Stanley with a 20×30″ and a 16×24″ custom double matted framed portrait created by The Moog Gallery. Thanks Kat and Erik!

You can view a snapshot of the final framed portrait.

I’ll let you in on a secret. Stanley’s portrait was actually taken outside at sunset in downtown Atlanta.

To top it off, Stanley even wrote us a glowing testimonial.

Wow! This photo was taken at sunset? I had no clue that it was taken outside. I looks like you set up the shoot in a dark studio. Very, very impressive! You definitely surprised me on this one. This is definitely one of your best shots!

Thanks Roger. The resulting wall mounted portrait was extremely impressive.

Very nice work! I really love this portrait. And as Roger mentioned in his comment, I would’ve had no clue that this was taken outdoors. I don’t know what you did or how you did it, but whatever it was, you did a great job with this photo.
